Mirror News app combines the latest cutting edge technology with creative writing skills. Users can view the latest news, celebrity videos and interviews, live blogs from the hottest events, amazing image galleries, videos and personalised content all at a touch of a button.
The Mirror News app was redesigned with simplicity and ease of use in mind. An important part of redesign is getting it right for new and existing users. Make it easy to use, and encourage users to discover more within the app; also provides users several different paths to read the article and use the app.
PRODUCT THINKING
PROBLEMS
In the old Mirror News app design, the user experiences were too complicated, contents are difficult to digest, users get lost within pages or struggle to go to different sections. Also by the time the iOS7 has came out, so the style is not up-to-date and a bit cluttered.
-These are the previous design-

TARGET AUDIENCE
Age 20-50, daily/weekly news readers.
VISION
To give a really engaging experience, keep it easy to use for everyone. Also to encourage users to discover more content that might otherwise be missed. And update the UI to attract more users.
STRATEGY
Create a function to allow users customise their own sections. Improve news tags and provide more related news/articles to the users. Also improve the UI to slim and brighter colour scheme.
SKETCHING IDEAS
Sketching is an expression of thinking and problem-solving. It’s a form of visual communication. One of the biggest advantages to sketching is that it allows you to express your ideas quickly and involve others in creating the user experience. This is counter-productive because sketching is where concepting is best done. Wireframing is where refining the concept is done. And mockups is where the visual graphics and content placement is done.

Imagery is well balanced, with the top story images larger in size to draw users' attention.
Users will be able to use "push to refresh" to get new contents.
And "Settings" section allows users to edit, share and learn or write feedback.
The 'Edit My Mirror' page is a fantastic addition which allows you to customise the content the way YOU want to see it, when YOU want to see it. So whether you're interested in the latest computer games, film reviews or weird stories, your favourite sections of the Mirror News will be at your control.
In terms of look and feel, it is less cluttered than the privious design, and content feels easier to digest and the layout flows well and encourage exploration.
